I have had my E60 for over two months and so far I have been lucky, no "door dings" on the side doors. I am surprised, because the E60 does not have side protectors, like the last 5 series. I did have a few dents on my old 530.

Have any of you had a problem with these "door dings"?

I also remember someone got side protectors (I forget the actual term), but there were no photos, anyone have any info on this or photos?

Thanks.

My car is 9 months old and there's still no door dings on my car. However, lots of stone chips hit my bumper..

After eight months, so far and No door dings! One reason is because I always park way out there in "left field" (LOL), in parking lots where nobody else gets, then on top of that I get an end space back in and stay as close to the curb as I can using my passenger mirror pointed downward set in #2 Drivers position. (Oh yea my daughter, and her mom thinks I am such a gentleman letting them out first at the shopping malls entrances while I park my car for them! (The real reason is I don't wont door dings! LOL don't tell them now! - LOL)

Cool

I follow a few simple rules as well...

1. Obviously park "out in left field."
2. Never park next to other european cars. The heavier the door, the heavier the ding!
3. Keep my paint spotless - people tend to watch what they are doing around cars that are gleaming.

Knock on poplar.

Hummm but parking next to Japanese cars usually = people who dont care about cars so they would fling their door open. European hopefully and i say again hopefully they care more about their car and dont want to damage their car in the first place so they wont touch theirs with yours.

I just chose to park alone or next to nice clean cars.

I've had my e60 for over a year (15 months) and fortunately no dings! I also park my car way out in 'nowhere land', which helps to protect from dings. Whenever it's a small parking lot, I try to park in the space that is the furthest to the right. My reasoning is that I can potentially cut the risk of getting dings on my door if the car that parks next to me on the left has no passengers.

I always park our car as far as possible from the other cars at a parking place. Sometimes I even use 2 parkingslots :-)

I got one ding, which my dad did, he opened his door into a tree.. The ding is very small, and there is no paint damage, so I will use "Car Dent" here in Sweden, which can make the ding go away, with there special tools....

16 months and do have one rear driver ding, small and no paint damage but still noticiable to me my wife claims she cant see it and "it's only a car" well you know what type of argument that turned into. I normally park away alone only to come out to find some clunker parked right next to you and there are 4 or 5 spaces on either side of you. I use to do the angle parking thing, till on my brand new 1990 nissan 240 sx was keyed at a movie theater from one side to the other . They also left a note on it stateing that my car is not so special, what type of bottom feeder would do this crap. Cost me 2000.00 dollars to have the whole car striped down and repainted. So pick your poison.
