My Ride: A Car
I really like my car and probably never want to sell it. But lately, a lot of people who saw my car ask if I was selling it. LOL. I said if the price is right and I made a ridiculous number of course. I seriously wouldn't wanna sell it for less than $35K but I dont think anyone will want pay $35K for a 05 545i. I did drop about $15K in the car with mods. Maybe more. I didn't do the calculations yet. I am debating if I should sell the car and get an 08 M5 or wait for the F10 M5. I mean, insurance on the car is GREAT! It's quite inexpensive, nice to drive, turns heads, etc. I am thinking of listing it and see if anyone wants to buy it for $35K. I'll probably end up getting more if I part everything out but I do not want to part out the car. If I part it out, might as well keep it.

it will be very hard to sell 545i for around $35K... because there are 2006 M5 on that price already!.
IMO, try to sell it and get an M5 if the gas is not a factor or a LCI 550i with SAT. or wait for second year of F10 550i (there is a potential to mod N63 engines up to 650hp from noelle ( http://www.noellemotors.de/BMW_7_series_F01.499.0.html )

I doubt you'd be able to sell it for that price, even with all the mods. I sold my 545 in 2007 when it had about 28K miles on it for $38.5K. It had Dinan software, intake, throttle body, exhaust, pedals and M Tech kit plus some other miscellaneous stuff. But who knows...maybe you can find an enthusiast that will value all your mods and pay the premium.
BTW, I just noticed your signature says 2005 LCI 545? How is it an LCI?

You have a unique E60 that you put so much time and effort into. I'm very attached to my car and I'm biased so I say keep it.
P.S. - I bet your sideskirts are a huge bitch to clean!

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
I'd start at 45K and then let them talk you down to $35K.

Respectfully, why would anyone pay 35K when you can get 545i's in the low 20's CPO and low mileage? I bought my 30K mileage loaded CPO for a tick over $23K back in October and that is in the neighborhood with comparable 545i's around the country when I was looking. If you can get someone to pay in the range you are quoting; that great, but I think you are going to be challenged to find someone to pull the trigger on a premium price.

I voted no....keep it. Your setup is perfect. If you need a change of scenery, swap out the wheels every now and then...much cheaper then buying an M5 IMO. But I'm conservative by nature....if you're a free spirit, then hell, get the M5
