Should I deactivate the daytime running lights?

I would deactivate them here in Germany! In countries like Sweden, Norway & Denmark, it's required by law.

I don't really mind the look as much as I did at first, but yesterday a cop on a motorcycle with a radar gun pointed right at me, probably got a second or two warning as well.
On narrow highways or two lane roads, I can pick out cars with DRLs at a greater distance. But at the distance I'm referring to, I'm not sure if it becomes a safety matter.
I'm sure there are tests to prove otherwise, but I don't know.

When I passed the cop, I looked over at him and watched him put down his radar and glance at me. After I passed him, I checked in the rearview mirror and saw that he had turned around to look at me. I thought for sure that I was going to get pulled over, but he stayed put.
Just to make sure though, I took a right at the next light and took off.
Not sure if that was the best idea though. <_<
Really don't know what he was looking at....the car is pretty common nowadays.

They are proven to reduce accidents in countrys where it is dark very often and very long, like Norway, Finland, etc...
I don't think they help reducing accidents in "regular light countrys"...

In broad daylight, they are sometimes shown to matter, but I find that questionable. For me, the benefit is that in slightly low light at dusk, or in the rain, they help immensely, and for most cars there is no automatic headlight activation, or it is not sensitive enough. On yours, the automatic headlight activation in low light can be sensitive enough that you can rely on that for low light.
On balance, because low light and poor visibility arise frequently (bridges, tunnels, dusk, dawn), I think it's a good default to have them on.
The cop will nail you either way if he feels like it. I can't believe it really draws the attention of the coppers. He was admiring your car, that's all.
