My Ride: 2008 Sapphire Black on Black M5 - loaded sans soft close doors

I don't have my C&D mags with me, but I seem to remember the Lighting being really REALLY quick. It starts have some serious drag above 60 -but 0-60 was very fast (even the quarter mile was well into the 13s if I remember correctly) -so best case you go for a full quarter mile - if it is just 0-60 it might not be so good for you.

Pickuptruck.com reports numbers slower than the Ford press release.

" The 2001 SVT F-150 Lighting is another leap over the 1999-2000 model. Today's truck can do 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds and finish the quarter-mile at 100 mph in 13.9 seconds. And we can assure you, those 13.9 seconds go by very fast indeed."

These numbers put it much slower than the times other members have posted here for a 550i.

The link in my post above indicates that Motor Trend tested more recent model years of the truck at 5.2 for the 0-60. I think it may be closer than some here seem to think!

Motor Trend is always on the optimistic side for 0-60 times. They post the best run not a realitic street time. It maybe closer but not that close. Especially if the race is 1/4 mile vs 0-60. The aerodynamics of the 550i will kick in the higher the speed gets.

Thanks guys, it will probablly be a couple of weeks, but it will be done!!! I have already de-falted my spare tire, but now I will remove it. Anyone know what the proper way to execute the launch-mode or aceleration assist (cant remeber which it is called)?

Had a chance to race a cousin of mine yesterday who has a ford f-150 svt lightning. But because I had a couple of drinks, I figuired ill try another time. He was so sure he would beat me, that it was pissing me off. It seems like most people dont realize the power of the 550, they only think that the M5 is fast and thats it. He was going on and on that his truck is lighter so that it would be a kill. Well it turns out that his truck is 870lbs heavier with a 0-60 time of 5.8, and lets forget about any twisties in the road. I will set up a race with him and maybe even video record it, for everyones enjoyment.
I had raced with a f-150 svt before when I am still driving 4.4 X5! I lost in the race... Damn, f-150 is fast!
