Shortcut buttons on the LCI

not to sound stupid, but where is this shortcut button you are refering to ? Are you refering to the Star and diamond buttons on the steering wheel?
The facelift 5 series (aka LCI == Life Cycle Impulse) going into production in March will have 8 shortcut buttons on the centre console (under the climate controls and next to the radio). These buttons can be programmed by you to quickly access any iDrive function. They were first released in the new X5, then the E93 and now the E60.

In the X5 when you 'hover' your finger over them, iDrive will instantly preview what the button will do, when you press it, it will do that thing. Presumably the E60 will work the same way.

ok thanks... So my car does not have the shortcut buttons.. Darn! It would be nice to eliminate some of the pushing on the IDRIVE wheel.
