The car that hit us was a 05 Astro Van. It was some sort of company car for an electrical company. We were at a dead stop waiting for a light and he was going 30+ mph. Here's a picture of his car. My wife was rear ended a couple years back in a Volvo and the damage was no where near this and the total repair bill came out to right under 10k. The insurance fixed the Volvo but we did sell it right after.

but again, at only 30 mph? i guess so.

Getting rear-ended by anything traveling at 30mph ... much alone an AstraVan (probably heavy with tools etc) .... count yourself lucky that you were in a BMW!
