Hi fellas, I was rear ended this pass weekend. Going through the claim process right now and trying to see is she is worth restoring or should I try to fight to have her totaled. Its a MY04 530i.

I seriously doubt they would total that. It looks like a competent shop should make it new again. All E60s are worth saving...... G/L

Theres not much damage there assuming the frame is OK. No way it will be totaled.

Like everyone else said, there is not enough damage to claim this as totalled. Totalled usually means the cost of the damage is greater than the vehicles value.

Anyhow, this is a good chance to upgrade to an mtech... insurance to repair that could be worth it.

Yah, that is definitely not totaled. I can't see any insurance company that would buy that either.

Regardless what the insurance company says, if there's frame damage - get rid of it!!! Time for an upgrade. Newer cars with the unibody construction are great the first time they're hit, not so much the second time. Like unfolding an aluminum can after crushing it, you'll never get it perfectly straight again.

From the looks of the picture, I highly doubt there is severe frame damage, or minor frame damage at that. If we all claimed these to be totalled/frame damaged, everyone in america would have a new car... and as much as I want to be optimistic for you in this case...it's just not going to happen.

A BMW would never make such a fragile frame that would crease in times of a rear end collision.
