Shattered Rims
#1
Hey guys, I had a major incident. A few of you may remember that I had my 124's powder coated black a few months ago. My absolute pride and joy Well, on my way to work this AM I hit a pot hole and destroyed both passenger side rims. Both tires instantly went flat and I had to get it towed on a flat bed. I could see while it was on the flatbed that there was a huge chunk missing from the rear wheel, at least 2''. I am assuming the front is in the same shape As of now my ride is undriveable SO, as they are powder coated I cant just get two 124's as then I will be mismatched I need to know good wheels to get, I would like to stay reasonable with the price and also stay with 18'' as I am hoping I can still use my recently new rubber. Thanks in advance guys, Danny aka guy with the worst day ever!

You are not the first one. I cracked my 124' rim too.
I know a guy who cracked 3 124 rims on his 545i one after another.. The guy from BMW shop said its very common and they are bad quality.
It supposed to ba a recall but BMW is not doing anything. I guess more people need to call in with complaints

Wow i am sorry to hear that...
You can look at used rims on ebay and get it powercoated again... or go for vmr or breyton like what Ghostteck said.. but you probably will spend more money than getting two new oem wheels... Made in Germany vs Made in China... I would suggest get oem wheels..
tires... idont know if tires are still good after that... i feel like you mightve broke belt on tires and might feel vibration when you put tires back on your new rims because that is what happend to me when i had stock wheels and tires
Also make complaints to the city for pothole... They are responsible on your damage and can pay for your wheels.

Thanks guys, I had my car towed on a flat bed to BMW San Diego, a sad sight indeed. I couldn't help but think of the " Hated BMW Owner " thread as I was sitting in the front of the tow truck What people must have been saying as they saw my murdered out 545 up on that flat bed, haha. But there is a bit of a silver lining, USAA let me claim it on my comprehensive insurance which only has a $250 deductible. Also they are going to cover rubber and they threw in some for the cost of re-powder coating. It is at the shop right now getting the steering looked at along with suspension and any other related parts. To be honest I am almost hoping that some other stuff is damaged so I could get a few new parts. Its on USAA's dime not mine right? And last but not least, they gave me a Z4 convertible for a loaner, very fun. Completely impractical but fun none the less. The weather has been nice in SD recently so I can't complain. That is all for now, I will be back with an update after I here from the dealer, Take it easy
