Get the shadowline trim, Chrome = YUK
IMHO, I think the car looks better with shadowline, as its sporty and there isn't much chrome on the car anyway. That said, if the car is in the silver family, the chrome works good. See the color gallery and you'll see a nice silver grey E60 with chrome. Of course chrome works if you want bling.

I have high gloss shadowline in mine and it looks great.

The only problem is that each time I bring it through a car wash the combination of soap and hard water minerals leaves a multi-colour rainbow tone brownish copperish coating on it. Looks awkful!! I have to clean that off manually.

If I use DI water (such as hand washing with the Mr. Clean kit) this doesn't happen.

Any idea on how to avoid that?

Black car will definitely flow better with shadowline.

As I have already ordered the M166's I have a chance of also ordering new window frames in shadowline for a reasonable price.

The big question is if I can replace them myself or if it's gonna cost me to have i done by a bodyshop?

I have to decide until Friday!

I agree that shadow line looks better on a dark colored vehicle.
How much did you have to pay for those eight strips of plastic and are you going to change it yourself?

Seems that I'm alone with my opinion

Good luck with the installation on the Shadowline frames.
If you are not a automechanic maybe you should let your dealer do it.
It could be the cheaper way in the long run...

Be sure to post before/after pics.

@DBU:

I'm paying some EUR 170:- ($215:-).

@Riracing:

First I'll consult a body shop and then decide weather it's job for them or me (probably them...). I wouldn't like to scratch the paint.

Get back you when they are installed!
