My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny. 2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter. Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

I don't really understand what is so "special" about this. I see a lot of cheap cars like base Corolla/Camry have black lines instead of chrome lines.

Nothing, it's just human nature to want to stand out, so if a million cars have chrome trim, you want to have one of the 10,000 cars that have the black trim. Conversely, I bet if one million cars had black trim, there would be 10,000 people who would think that chrome makes them stand out better. I personally love my chrome trim. It really stands out against the black paint and it gives my E60 a much more luxurious look. I used to hate the black trim on some of my former cars.

This, in my opinion, is highly subjective.

Nah. I had the chrome when I had the stock numbers, grilles, and exhaust tips. I think it looks nice, personally. Once I decided to try the black look, it just made sense to switch everything.
