I am still trying to make up my mind about whether I should get a car with or without active steering. When it has AS it also comes with something called servotronic. I was wondering what it is and also is it worthwhile having even if I ditch AS.

Get the AS. Please read the AS threads and later magazine reviews. AS is greatly improved.

Servotronic is the variable powersteering boost, How it feels lighter at slow speed and heavier going fast. This not to be confused with AS which changes how much the wheels actualy turn depending on speed and steering wheel input. Servotronic is only how heavy or light the steering feels.

Servotronic is a must.
535d has it standard, I drove also a month without it and I was not happy.
I can't tell you anything about AS.

Do not get active steering. It is numb at high speeds and gets twitchy

and loose in a crosswind. The steering on my 540i was much better...

almost telepathic. Note that the new M5 does not have AS.

As you know, any question of preference like AS is going to have strong feelings on either side of it, but I think at a minimum you would be doing yourself a HUGE disservice to not compare the two yourself. I LOVE it and think it is incredible, but you should drive one with and without and make the decision based on your experience with it. I think the majority of people would prefer it, but that does not mean it is for everyone.

If you are talking about the M5 you should FIRST know WHY it doesn't have it.

It's OK if you don't like it, but the fact that the M5 doesn't have AS has NOTHING at all to do with what you just wrote!

AS is GREAT!

Other car manufactirers are now copying it!!

Why is the M5 without AS and why is it not an option on
