Hi!, was informed by the dealer that the new LCI models have shorter recommended service intervals. Cars (petrol, not sure about diesel) made from March 2007 onwards now need to be serviced every 12,000km compared to the previous 25,000km. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true, now that we have to service the car sooner would it cost us less per service (assuming less parts needs to be replaced each time due shorter interval)? Thanks!

To piggyback off my2007's question... when are you supposed to get your first oil change?

I was told to bring car in for first service at 12,000km or when prompted by i-drive whichever is earlier. The car uses what BMW calls "condition based service" to alert thru the i-drive. CBS just means that if you drive normally you can go for 12,000km before going in for service, but if you drive hard or drive in adverse conditions, then you may have to bring it in earlier. Just wondered as to why this shorter service interval now, did they have bad experiences with the longer service interval?
