My Ride: 530i 2006 model w/ Nav

All,
Could use your help here please. Have a 2006 530i with 63,000 miles. Tonight the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Don't have a scheduled maintenance for another 8,000 miles according to the readout on the dash (when you first turn the key after starting that lights up for just a few seconds). Had the oil changed about 4 months ago (I change it every 7500 miles) and when I hit the BC button to check everything I get an "All Systems OK" message. When checking iDrive it tells me everything is ok as well. I live in Charlotte NC and the temperature dropped quickly today and we had some sleet/very light snow. Gas tank is 1/2 way full and I uncapped the fuel lid thinking some pressure could have built up giving a faulty oxygen sensor but still the light remains. Any ideas?? Would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thank you,

Will

Thanks Lopealle,
I went to Autozone this morning and 2 codes came up. P0597 - Cruise Control circuit / open
and P1447 - Aux Emissions control

Anyone have any ideas on what to do about these besides going to the dealer? Purchased an extended warranty but it still takes time to make an appt and be without a vehicle.

Thanks,
Will

Im experiencing the same thing, service engine soon but BC&idrive tells me everything is ok. Just got my starter replaced on my car. I thought all the light indicated was the regular services that needed to be done, like inspections (since im due for one soon) and etc. Looks like this little damn indicator light showing up could be a broad range of things.... i'll probably have to get my car checked out once again. Siggggggh

OP let me know how everything goes!

will do, going to start by calling the dealer and talking to an SA. Hoping I can explain the codes and see if they can tell me more specifics. Will update this post tomorrow after I speak with the dealership.

Well, it is a bad thermostat and some other fuel pump component that is supposed to regulate the amount of fuel that goes through the injectors. Luckily warranty is covering it.

This exact thing happened to me 2 days ago. As soon as my milage went from 61999 to 62000 the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. I checked the control messages and it says all systems are ok. I guess I'll go to Autozone and get them to read the error codes then take it to the dealership.
