My service due light illuminated and I'm at appx 65k. I get my oil changed every 5k at an indy shop and asked them not to reset the service indicator so I'm thinking this notification is nothing more than the system detecting a systematic oil change is due on its regularly scheduled 15k intervals.

at 60k I also had the spark plugs replaced along with an oil change.

So if I schedule the service with the dealer (keep in mind I'm under warranty until summer 2014), what should I have the dealer service department update/change/replace/repair while in the shop? The vehicle is a 2009 550. My biggest complaint is a sour smell the emits from the AC at startup but goes away within 20 seconds.

I recently bought new michellin sports, got an allignment done, spark plugs, oil change...
what else is there? What is scheduled for review at the 65k service?

 

If you are still under the warranty take it to the dealer. Based on the schedule they will know what to service, or ask them before and see if there is a charge. Some coverages takes care of this, and others don't. Sometimes it could be just a software update but at least they should be checking it out. If you have any annoying stuff that needs attention then point it out to them, like that smell.

 

frigi-fresh in the vents, BMW has had this problem for a long, long time. It's mildew. I think BMW even has their own BMW branded product that they sell for this problem. Ask your SA about it.

 

Take your ride in to the dealer and when they read the key they'll know what service to perform. One that thing that I do to prevent that smell in the AC is to turn off the AC a minute or two before turning off the car. That minimizes the condensation build up in your AC system and stops the smell.

 

Your cabin filters may need to be changed, i hear you get a smell from the vents when the filters need to be replaced.
