Dear gurus;
Yesterday i started my car 04 530i and i had the service engine soon light on... i got it checked out at the near repair shop and he told me that i had a code P0128 stored and the description was that "engine coolant temperature... thermostat check".. something like that.. I guy seemed to know a little.. Did anyone had a similar problem?... or could help me out please.
much appreciation
Kevin

The electronic thermostats are known for failing on m54 engines. The part is relatively cheap (around 100) and BMW gas redisgned the housing and now offers a metal one.

Wow this is like the 3rd emissions thread today
Today is a bad day for thermostats
Must likely the thermostat, shouldn't be much more than $100 at the dealer

get the one from drivewire.com. It all came from the same place. Dont spend $120 on BMW labels. $60 is fine.
Oh and I quoted for labor to be about $150 or less. The guy told me $220 with the part and he buys the part for $90.
And I see you live in Queens. Lemme know if I need to direct you. I was driving and stopped by this indy place and all i saw were german cars there. $220 with the part isnt expensive.
