COntratry to many, I would be worried. It is almost a brand new car. You paid too much money to have a car giving you all sort of error msg. That is my opinion.

Good to hear the problem got fixed. Looks it took nearly a week, why so long?
My 2006 530 got the same malfunction today, at only 2200 milles.

When is your production date? Mine is 4th week of Novemeber, 2005.
Bad sensor...
Mine also just came on today at 9200 miles. Nov 05 built also; perhaps in the same batch with yours. I will have to call dealership for service tomorrow.

I had the exact same error messages and the exact same sensor replaced. Just got my car back today. It's been happening to a lot of our cars and the dealer had to order it as well. Had 5000 miles on 11/05 build.

Wow, so now it's obvious that this glitch is happening to a lot of E60s. Mine just came on today ... twice. So much for hoping that this car would have flawless reliability like all my previous/current Hondas. First glitch ever and I'm super pissed. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Add me to the list. My 550 is in the shop as we speak, went in on Monday and is likely to be there until at least Friday. Steering angle sensor is on back order. According to my SA this does create real safety issues - everyone who has this is right to be concerned, this seems to be more than just a software glitch.

I hope bmw fixed the problem in the new replacement parts for good. I hate to go back and replace the same thing every now and then.

I had the scariest ride yesterday...I had several warnings come on, then lost braking ability and power steering. Got it to the dealership and found that we need a new SZL Module as well. This car has 1500 miles and is an 06 550.

Edit: Clarifying: The warnings I remember are the amber brake light, amber DSC malfunction, no braking ability for about five miles, difficult steering, seat belt warning, no key (comfort access) and SOS did not work.

I had the same problem. Mine took two days to fix because of reprogramming the car. Dealer says its very common in the 5er. My dealer orders alot of sensors because of this. At least they fixed it without hassle.

Did you lose braking ability as well? That is the only thing I haven't heard other people experience. Thank goodness it was only for about five miles, but I was about to pull the E Brake.
