There are no sensors on the rims.

Tyre pressure sensors are fitted to the tyre valves

If the ones on your current valves are able to be re-used then no.

If they cannot be re-used then yes you would.

You would need to take advice on this from your tyre depot.

the reason i'm asking is that i've changed tyres recently to summer type and after i tried to re-calibrate iDrive wasn't saying anything. Just afraid that they were removed... Any idea how can i check it?

If your year e60 has TPMS you can buy OEM or original replacements for your new rims [they run from $200 and up for a set of 4] or reuse those from your original rims.

If you reuse the old consider and buy the "kit" to replace the seals on the sensors - your dealer should have them in stock.

You may want to consider buying new ones because your tires will have to come off each set rims in order to switch them over. Mounting, balancing and sensor installation of 8 tires is going to probably cost you more then just biting the bullet and buying a new set. I got mine at tire rack and they weren't too expensive. Actually 1/2 of what the dealer wanted. Just make sure you also order metal valves to go with them.
