Thumbs down

I recently sent a Google Map location to a business associate's phone and "discovered" the location could be sent to a BMW Navigation system through BMW Assist!

I was hyper excited about an easy way to send a specific POI. But my elation became disappointment because my '07 e60 was born 2 months too early. This feature will work only for '07 models manufactured after September '06!

This is the screen shot:

The Destination you requested could not be delivered due to the following
error(s):

A02: VIN: WBANF73547XXXXXXX. The vehicle listed on your BMW Assist account
is not capable of receiving this information. If you feel you have received
this message in error, contact BMW Assist at (888) 333-6118.
BTW, the process worked flawlessly on my Garmin Nuvi 360 and loaded the exact location, name and all, to my favorite addresses when I synched the Garmin.

You missed my article on it - and cars with that capability are first being born now (x6).

I did miss that one! And I had to buy an '07 that was 3 months premature ... But the Google Maps thing is really neato and makes for quick POI adder for my Garmin nuvi 360 that I use when I'm using another car or on public transit!

Or ... do you suppose [if it's possible] a little whining and my dealer will swap out the TCU for one a few months newer?

So, I'm confused a little -- the feature is <not> available on current cars except 04/08 and later X6's, and won't be available on other models until MY2009?

luigi, where did you get your information about what cars it works on? Clearly, there is a discrepancy between what you're saying and what Jonathan is saying...
