I was playing with my iDrive (2004 525i), and after trying a few options about the door lock and the seat position menu, my seat stopped responding to the memory setting. Only the mirrors respond and the seat stays motionless. All the controls still work and the seat moves when I control it manually.

The memory button does not light up red to accept new settings either. I set all the iDrive settings back the way they were before still nothing. Any idea what is going on?

I'd wait if the problem is still there tomorrow (just in case), and if so, I would report it to the dealer then.

You are right. When I took out the keys last night waited for several seconds, it was the same broken deal. However, after leaving it alone all night, this morning, it was working fine like nothing happened. Weird, but I am glad it is working again.

Ignore a problem long enough and it will go away

amazing how many "overnite" fixes there are with this car. Doe it need to recycle over a certain amout of hours?

Does the change of date make any difference?

Does it have nocturnal healing powers?

Special "tooth" fairy kind of mechanic visit the car at nite and sprinkle magic dust on it?

Does it just need more sleep?

e60 is a computer on wheels. It needs time to reset itself.
