Sorry I can't be of any help, but what error message were you getting from idrive?
I have just posted a thread about the message 'Front passenger airbags faulty' appearing on my car but unsure what is causing it.

after that you need to get a new clip to put it in.
I believe you have to program the car after you are done with it. My tech just did it on mine and had to reprogram the car.

you have to take the whole seat out and then take the bottom seat out and i believe there is a holding screw on the bottom. . Leather is holding by metal clips that you need to unclip and then you will be able to take the mat sensor out.
after that you need to get a new clip to put it in.

It may be the seat sensor mat as well, but it also can be the seat belt tensioner. In order to pinpoint the culprit, you may want to scan your car for error messages with inpa or an autologic device.
