I agree with you Fred. It is your choice and you live with it. SOmetimes I forget to put minw on or I am just playing in the car :P and I do not need that little signal bothering me.

Buy a buckle and plug it in - the car thinks you are buckled up...

Good idea, that seatbelt chime is startin to get on my nerves as well

Will any old buckle from an autoparts shop fit? Are these things standard?

FF, individual responsibility is the best form of government. Government - less is better.

Let us enjoy our autos as we see fit and be responsible citizens wo big bro always chiming in.

Off the soap box for now.

Not wanting to turn this into a political thread, but along the lines of less Government = better quality of life:

Why can't insurance companies just refuse to pay for injury claims if you are injured in a car accident because you were not wearing your seatbelt? Same thing with motorcycles; don't pay the claim if the rider isn't wearing a helmet. They may already do this, but if they do, why the legislation mandating it?

Seems to me that that would place the decision back in the hands of the individual, and eliminate some amount of financial risk from the insurance companies and local governments.

I'm sure I'm oversimplifying, but it can't be by that much.

How about if the ambulance won't take you if you got ran over after walking through a red light? Or doctors decide not to treat your tumor because you decided to use a cell phone?
No pension if you get disabled in the army because nobody forced you to join?

Come on. That would result in leaving people two choices; be rich or be cattle.

I don't know if those buckles are all the same. I have never taken a closer look at it...
Sorry :(
I've heard from my dealer that he had an E60 customer who just ordered an extra buckle from BMW, because he has his laptop computer and his bag on the passenger seat very often. So he just plugs the buckle in and leaves it there, until someone takes the seat and buckles up, then (offcourse) he takes the extra buckle out...
