After clipping in the seat belt thousands of times, the red receptacle isn't as tight as it was when the car was new. The red receptacle and internal spring release mechanism doesn't release the metal buckle very fast any more.

Anyone using a 5 series belt extender? (see picture below)Is the extender more comfortable?

Is it less effective and less safe?

Will it throw random codes?

Does it put stress on the receptacle internal components causing them to fail?

I'd say a 'made in china' belt extender would not be safe. If your buckle is worn, a new OE one or a good one from a wrecker.

Definitely go to the junk yard and get one. Just make sure you unplug the battery when replacing it.
