Is there ANY way that you can disable the seat belt chime. My SA says you can't, but i've got a feeling he just doesn't want to!

PS: And please no lectures about the safety of seat belts.....

There's an epic thread somewhere on here on this topic and, as I recall, there were 2 reasonably good solutions there - one mechanical, and one not a million miles away from what whitebmw22 is suggesting. Try doing a detailed search using the search function on the top right of the forum page.

MacSid, you don't perhaps have an idea when roundabout, that threat was posted? Or where, for that matter?

Another hypothetical question... Say I buy a loose seat belt buckle, and plug it in, will that alter the characteristics of my airbags when I'm in an accident?

hi all

there is another solution, but how i dont yet know how it exactly works.

i once had my cousin sit in the car, as he wanted to go for a quick drive in my 525d. He too hates the seat belt chime, but to over come this he kind of sat in the seat, but then sat up so that there was none of his body weight in the seat and opened and then closed the drivers door and once he closed the door then sat back down and the chime just turned of.

try this guys and see how you get on, i will call my cousin to ask him how he did this and post it up

I would be really interested to see how this works too. I thought it was activated by the pressure on the seat, independently of the door closing action.

I, too, am annoyed.

Mrs. sixcard requires approximately 5 minutes of farding before she gets around to buckle up.

My solution is to stop at 2 minutes. It works every time.

Yes it will. The airbag is designed to reduce the impact when you continue with the speed your have at the impact (as Newton stated). This speed is reduced with the seat belt and that is calculated when designing the airbag.
