I have to agree 100%. I'm not any kind of a pedantic lecturer, and I'm in the business of securing and protecting individual rights, but after watching my wife survive a terrible SUV rollover where she was hit from behind by a tractor trailer, causing her to flip, roll 3 or 4 times, flip the guardrail, and then roll down a hill, and to know that because she used her seatbelt, that she walked away, literally, without a scratch (short of the poison ivy she got after climbing out the side window of her Jeep Cherokee), and knowing that she would likely be dead (or horribly injured) otherwise, kind of makes you wonder why people don't just take the 3 seconds it takes to buckle their belt. They have made these belts so innocuous, unintrusive, and simple to use--and they work. Instead of taking time to trick the computer, protect yourself.

The huge reduction in injuries/deaths and resultant lower hospital costs drives markedly lower health insurance costs for everyone. And lower insurance and legal costs due to fewer lawsuits and smaller awards.

I was a a Police Traffic Sergeant in London for 14 years before retirement. Feel free not to wear your seat belt but just give a little thought to those who have to go and tell your grieving loved ones that you would be alive if only you had worn your seat belt. I suspect your loved ones would have been happy for your civil liberties to have been infringed on just this occasion.

i used to have a dodge magnum and i got rid on the seat belt chime by turning the car to acc,pushing the gas pedal three time and turning the car back to off. is there no such way to do that on german made cars??

thanks guys.ive been looking around the site and found a post that i can buy a chip for my car that will give me more hp and torque. is there alot of companies that do this? are they any good?how does it get more hp and torque from a chip?is it bad to do this on a turbo engine? sorry for all the question guys im new to the board and to bmw this is my first one and just trying to learn.thanks

I thought of buying a seat belt buckle to get rid of the chime but the dealership dont sell the buckles alone... does any buckle fit?

The problem isn't so much that you can't disable the chime, but rather that you need to be buckled before you even put the key in the ignition or it complains immediately. A 5 or 10 second delay would make it to my liking.
