I was almost never wearing it before I got my E60.
I am very happy the system is so annoying, that I now buckle up before driving off!
But a second (spare) buckle helps. Just buy one and plug it in if you like to get severely injured in an accident...
The second (spare) buckle is a very helpfull thing if you have stuff you put on the passenger seat...

I asked the same question months ago and had all the soap boxies yelling at me.

As Pacino said in Devil's Advocate; free will, it's a bitch..

The only time the beeps bother me is when there is someone in the passenger seat and they don't put the seatbelt on...and i don't want to be rude and tell them to put it on.
When I yell at pedestrians darting in front of my car, I do so because it IS my problem if I kill them.

It is also my problem if I'm driving in an accident and my passenger gets killed unnecessarily. I don't get charged with vehicular homicide if he doesn't die. I have a friend who doesn't buckle up at first, and I tell him he has to.

I also have a friend who was holding his briefcase on his lap, which caused the passenger airbag to deactivate (the annoying light on ceiling). It doesn't want to fire if there's an obstruction up near the panel, whether it be a briefcase or a child seat. So I told him to move it, and the airbag deactivated light went off.

Nobody seems to mind being told what to do.

My car, my rules. Drive your cycle without a helmet on your own time. (I also avoid driving near them, too, by the way. It is MY problem if they drive into me and get their melon squashed because they aren't wearing a helmet.)

I think I know how to do it!!!

Don't know if I'll explain it very well in english but I will try.

So... Go to any place near you where are trashed cars... and components... (some kind of graveyard...). Get from one of those cars that thing (I don't know it's name.. not even in my language...).. the one that keeps the seatbelt fixed...

The one circled with red in the next picture.
Just put them where the seat belt shoud go.. and the sensor will shut up for ever! Do the same with the passenger's seat belt.

Simple. Buckle it and sit on it, forever if you are so inclined. <_<

I thought it became a law in every country now. Maybe not.

Depending on your views on social order:

It's not just a good idea, it's the law!

(used to be a traffic safety ad)

OR

It's not just the law, it's a good idea!

(for those who prefer to come at it from the other angle).

At my job, I work on automotive product liability things, including restraint and other passenger protection devices. I've seen too many color photos of accident scenes. Trust me, I wear my belts.
