I recently traded my '04 525 for a '10 535, in the manual it mentions satellite images in the NAV. I noticed this on the BMW site when watching the videos about some of the features on the car and saw it in the brochure for the 2010 5 series. I cannot locate this functionality. I think the system in the car needs to be updated as I notice some areas which were recently updated in my area are not present in the NAV. The build date on the car is July or August if I remember, got it at the beginning of December. I wanted to check to see if anyone here has the 2010 model with NAV and has this feature before I contact the dealer. I got some different information regarding the bluetooth on the older car and one shop said it was possible and did the programming. Before getting the run around, I wanted to see if it is possible. Thanks in advance.

I just picked up my 2010 as well. Last night I was playing around with it while the wife was in the supermarket and discovered the Satellite View option by using the Options button while in the Nav screen. I was able to get a satellite map, but it was grainy and the view was from pretty far out. Whenever I tried to zoom in, it automatically went from the satellite view back to the map view. I have not figured out how to get the satellite view to display "up close/zoomed in" or if it even will. Post it here if you do.

What version of the NAV software do you have installed and what is the build date on your car? That option is not available on my NAV although the manual has it listed.

If your car is built before Aug/Sep 2009 it actually a revised 2009 model, ie. has the new hi def screen, and will have Sat Nav version 2008-2 in it. The newer 2010 model will have the updated sat nav, think its 2009-2 and also will have the new wing mirrors with the black insert going the full length of them (see pic below).

You will need to get your sat nav upgraded to have the new satalite view I think.

My car is a May 09 build and has the older sat nav and wing mirrors.

My mirrors looks similar to the 2010 from what I can tell but the bottom portion does not look black (dim lighting in the garage) all the way across. Mine is a 07/09 build, the screen is similar to those in the 2010 brochure and has the built in hard drive and a single slot for DVD/CD. The navigation version is NA 2009-1. I'll ask my sales rep if it can be updated to the newer version without an extra cost.

The car was built late November or early December. It does have the black mark all the way across the outside mirrors. I don't have it here to get the S/W version.

Just wanted to check if you had a chance to look at the build date on your car.
