Just purchased a 2005 545i CPO and sticker claims satellite radio prep package. I cant seem to find any eveidence of connectivity anywhere in the vehicle. Entertainment mode on the control display just gives AM, FM and CD as options as well (no SAT shown...).
Any ideas? I appreciate your help.

Although your car has the SAT prep, If i'm not mistaken you still need to purchase the sirius SAT module from BMW.

According to Realoem it cost $552 and i would assume plus the cost of installation and updating the software for it to work.

Entertainment won't show anything until the Sirius module is added and the software is updated. My '04 545 was ordered w/ Sat Prep and the Sirius was added later. Once the Sirius is installed and the software is updated so that the iDrive recognizes the Siruis, you'll see it. If the sticker shows Sat Prep for $75, it is likely there. Very early cars like mine, you had to order Sat Prep (which I did!) but later models all came with Sat Prep standard, which is what yours sounds like. Check w/ your dealer to confirm, but you should be good to go...

If you're not looking at an original window sticker (like the one's on new cars) then the best thing to do is call BMW NA and give them your VIN number so that they can verify if you have SAT prep. It's normal for you not to be able to see any evidence of the prep since you won't see any reference to SAT on the display screen until it's installed and programmed.

Thanks much. I appreciate your help. The service date of my car was 2/28/05 so it might be an ealry model year like yours.

FYI, you can get the approximate build date (month/year) from a sticker on the driver's door jamb but if you call BMW NA, on the SAT prep issue, be sure to ask them for the exact build date (month/day/year). I think you'll find this information handy in the future as you get deeper into this addiction called E60...

The connections for Sirius are behind the drivers side trunk panel. It gets mounted above the wheel well.
The safest way to determine if the prep is there is to have someone look it up via the VIN number. BMW NA can do it for sure and I think any BMW parts department can do it as well.
