As of now you cannot get one from BMW. There is a conflict (Told from the Dealer) with the NAV system. I was a little aggravated myself but I usually listen to Cd's anyway. I could only order the Sat. Prep. I just ordered mine Tuesday.

I have a 530i on order and can still make the change for satellite radio hookup or prewire. What exactly does that mean? For $75, I have no problem adding it. Can I assume that the prewiring goes through the audio system on the car or do I have to attach some sort of aftermarket unit to this prewire?

According to my dealer, you can get he sat. prep and if BMW figures out how to resolve the conflict between the Nav system and Sat. radio you can get a BMW radio. Or you can get an aftermarket radio. I do not know however if the aftermarket radio will conflict as well.

I just took delivery of my 525 in Europe and the Sirius was in there, complete. I need to be back here in order to initialize it though. The interface was great. No extra mouse antenna, just the shark fin! :-)

according to what i've heard, the dealer cannot order nav and sat prep kit at this time and any orders placed with those 2 options will get automatically updated on March 19...what they mean by automatically updated I don't know, either the system will remove the prep kit or it removes the nav.....
I have delayed ordering my 530i due this issue

More bad news. I got more word on the Sat. radio. If you have a US spec BMW and you want the NAV and Sat. radio then you will have to wait for the 2005 model. I did not ask if it was possible to upgrade the 2004 models.

Thanks kigerka, I kinda figured we wouldn't see nav and sat radio until 2005.
I think the reason why BMW removed the prep kit option for sat radio is because if they continued to install that option(along with nav) and it later turns out that it still doesn't work then they would get put in the situation where MB was with their navigation system, which was giving everyone that ordered the nav option a NEW car with working navigation.... by removing the prep kit option all together, a customer can't expect sat radio because you can't order it anyway...
hopefully the 2005s will have some new options like a keyless-go system....
