My Ride: Alpine White 2010 535 M-Sport
Posting this mainly as a public service announcement. I had to take my 2010 e60 in to the dealer for a license lamp flickering (posted earlier). While dropping it off to the service advisor, I mentioned that on occasion, I had trouble shifting from park to drive. iDrive would yell at me to press the side button when shifting. It would do it a few times, then it would shift. I figured the side button contacts were a bit worn, but didn't expect much from the dealer. The service advisor called me and told me they fixed the lamps and the SAT wasn't throwing any codes, but she would drive it after lunch just to be sure. Bout an hour later, she called and said she got it to duplicate the problem and they have ordered me a new shifter. The whole package. It shifts like butter now. Seriously feel like I won the lottery...since I never win anything, and Im used to dealers ignoring problems. So I just wanted to post this in case your SAT shifter was giving you a little trouble and you had a few miles left on the warranty. Take it in and get that sucker replaced. Im off to buy lottery tickets!

Having a few issues myself with my SAT shifter at first startup. I usually have to move it to the left ever so slight to get it to shift from park to drive. After that one instance, its like butter until I shut it off the rest of the day. When I restart the next day, same issue that first time only...
