I am getting ready to pull the trigger on the 550i. Shooting for a December Delivery date.
Anyway, looking at the option sheets, it looks like Satellite Prep is now standard equipment in the 550i.
I am currently an XM radio subscriber and like it. I don't want to switch to Sirius, nor do I want to pay the $595 to get Sirius as an option. The XM is NOT in the 04 545i, as my wife drives it locally and doesn't need it. It is in my current car.
My question is, will Satellite prep allow me to hook up an XM radio module and play it through the cars system, like the Sirius system?
Thanks. If this has already been addressed, kindly point me to the link. Thanks!
Regards, Michael

My Ride: 2006 525i Titanium Silver, All Weather, XM (Aftermarket)
I have the same issue with my XM 2 Go (MYFI). I wanted to integrate with my '06 525i. No dice...there used to be aftermarket integration options, (XMDIrect). But that no longer is available with the E60, which converted to a fiber-Optic system as I understand it. The best you can do is Aux-Input to have the radio Line-Out connected to the audio. I am using XM FM modulation, which sounds fine....I am having the XM cradle installed for power and the XM antenna mounted next Saturday. .
The shame of it is, the built in antenna cannot be used as of now. I'm hoping for a future adaptor but nothing yet...as far as I can find.
