I know how difficult shinny black cars are to keep looking nice, especially with scratchs and swirl marks; my question is would saphire black be any easier to keep nice or if not will the finish hold up better than gloss black cars.

Saphire black is a great color when it is clean. There is no doubt that it and carbon black are the two hardest to keep clean.
Both show swirl marks so regular detailing will be a must.

I would say that Jet Black is more difficult to keep looking good.
Black Sapphire Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic at least have sparklies to help hide blemishes, swirls, scratches, orange peel, and such. Jet Black has nothing to hide that stuff ... it exposes everything.

Jet Black sucks! It's impossible to hide every imperfection. The other blacks definitely hide imperfections better than Jet Black.
But when Jet Black is clean (which lasts about 5 minutes), nothing looks better. Nothing!

Mine's sapphire black and I can confirm the following:
- Scratches and swirls do show up
- It is indeed an effort to keep clean (especially here in the Netherlands)
I must however say that it is definitely easier to keep it looking good than jet black - EVERYTHING shows up on jet black, whereas the sparklies on sapphire black do hide some of the swirls and scratches.

Ha ha I love to wash my cars so jet black is the color for me and like you said nothing looks better when its clean!
Forget automatic carwash! Only hand wash and regulary detailing!

My car is Black Sapphire Metallic and it does not show any swirl marks. I always wash it by hand and I use Zymol wax. The Zymol wax is applied in straight-line motions, not in circular motions.

I agree, mine looks amazing when clean but is a right pain to wash and dry in strong sun. It doesnt mark that much but i really thinks its the best colour,
here is a pic of mine just after washing and just before i had the valve problem thats left it sitting in the BMW dealer for 3 weeks.
