I know pretty sure, our cars can easily stall with more than few inches of water. How much deep ( depth of water on road) our E60 can handle?
Here is the one abandoned in Manhattan today (will take water in once the level goes up) (this is F10)

Joseph Arpaio of Massapequa abondons his car on 5th Street in Lindenhurst as high tide, rain and winds flood local streets on October 29, 2012.

It always amazes me why people are out driving in such storms to begin with. I am sure the floor pan is already completely full and there just happens to be a lot of electrical things in that area. The other bad thing is after the car is sold at auction some poor unknowing customer will buy this car and endure all the electrical gremlins! From the pic, I can't tell if these guys are just enjoying the water or if they are checking out those rims...

For all of you not in the Northeast, maybe he wasnt driving at all.... Lower Manhattan was completely flooded and cars were literally carried away. My brother-in-law in Jersey lost 2 cars and a motorcycle... Anything high enough to touch the interior is a problem. All the major sensors and modules are under the passenger floor along with the main wiring harness - ask me how I know....
