Safety/Crash test data on BMWs

Hello,
This is my firt post to this forum. (Btw, this is a awsome forum - unbiased views, no attitudes, and fun to read. Thank you.).
I am debating between the 550 and M3 (heart is on the M5, but no $$).
Most of the debate has been about personal choices like a coupe Vs. a sedan, a proven product Vs. a new revision etc.
But one place where I couldnt find data was about how these models fare in safety tests. Does anybody have pointers to such data ?

Just remember crash tests show how cars would do in a specific type of crash against a similar car
a NCAP 3 star large car could decimate a 5 star small car if they smashed into each other, because the large car has much more momentum ( read the FAQ section at the euro NCAP site www.euroncap.com )

Thanks for the pointers.
Looks like bimmers are not on the top when it comes to these crash tests.
However, one could argue that these test are just a rough estimate of safety
and even the best rated mid-size sedan driver will not be safe in a side impact
with a heavy SUV.
Therfore, I was wondering how much of the safety concern went into people's
purchase decision. Any inputs will be appretiated.

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
