Something confuses me. When I move the shifter to the left the gear indicator says S mode which changes to M as soon as I hit the flipper. I know that when it's in regular automatic mode I can push the sport button but what is this other mode?? If it is Sport mode then I don't see how it's different from the regular Sport automatic mode when the shifter is in the middle. It goes into effect whether or not the Sport button is pressed.
Thanks (as always)
Jeff

I don't claim to fully understand the difference either. The use of Sport mode by moving the shifter over raises the shifting points for the tranny, but so does the Sport button. The manual very briefly describes the Sport button activating Dynamic Drive which adjusts steering response and otherwise tweaks engine speeds. So basically it seems like the S mode in the tranny seems to only adjust the shift points but the Sport Button makes other adjustments to the driving experience...
Others will have to fill in the detail, but it would be nice if the manual provided more color as to what these modes did...

Read the following thread about the SAT (not SA -- that means Service Advisor...
) to see if it helps you understand things better:

If you're impatient and don't feel like reading the whole thing, here's a post where I outlined the six discrete modes:
