My Ride: 2005 545i Titanium Silver/Black/Poplar: Steptronic, Sport, Cold Weather, Premium Sound, Comfort Seats, Sat Radio, NAV & Shades

I noticed on the new 550i, the little controls for the vents are ruthenium. Does anyone know or think it will be possible to order those and retrofit them on to a 545i?

Thanks

This question was asked by me sometimes back. Yes, you can change it with a price:
1. Trade in for new car
2. Buy the whole climate control panet set.

2nd option seems to be cheaper, but it's not worth it.

Just checked the price on the parts. $46.90 for the center, $25 each for the left and the right. $100 plus labor, not worth it for the change. But they do look nice.

i think that solarfactory is refering ONLY to the vents and the little tabs it has to move them. NOT the control knobs for the AC.

The vents can be acquired for around $100 and AFAIK it can be done as a DIY job, it is a similar procedure like adding the lower dash trim. The control knobs... it has been discussed a million times, no one has been able to change them

tnx

Do you see that little plastic rectangular tab that is used to adjust air flow direction on the vents? Our car has black plastic tabs, whereas the new ones have a silver (ruthenium) insert to make it look less stark.
