Key items here:
Spray no paint into the inner workings of the caliper.
Mask off the disc surface and clean surface afterward with brake cleaner or suitable "no residue" cleaner.
Clean wheel mating surfaces.
Invest in, or borrow, a good torque wrench.
Torque lug bolts to 88 ft/lbs as per BMW spec. (In a star pattern. First to 50 ft/lbs then to 88)
Color is a matter of preference. Detail is a matter of time and ingenuity. The painted surfaces make it easier to
remove the ever present brake dust.
NOTE: If you have a young driver in your family this is a good time to teach. Proper jacking, wheel replacement, brake components, and wear items.

Upgrade to 545i brakes, they have aluminum hubs on the rotors, so they won't rust and can be polished if you like.

530inOK is correct....The OP is referring to the hub part of the rotor that is between the actual surface where the brakes grab and the hub where the wheel attaches. We've all seen this rust, and it can be removed by various methods...and then painted.

Sorry for the confusion about what was rusting......as some of have pointed out, it is the hub that the wheels attach to. Will approach BMW UK and express my dissapointment and see if they might offer to sort it out as a gesture of goodwill. Not holding my breath though.
