To all Bimmer DIY'rs, I opened up my M54 value cover on the E60. Inside the valve cover, on the right side there is a plastic over (image attached) which you see when you open the cover where the oil is poured into the engine. That cover which is plastic, was covered in RUST.
When I looked at the valve cover (image attached), it was covered in RUST in L-Shape, above the plastic cover I explained above and along the VANOS.
How come there is rust on plastic parts and should I be worried??? I was originally worrying there could be sluge in the engine, but it is RUST. Any similar experiences are welcome with remedy how to clean and avoid in future.

Hi,
Did you ever overheat this engine? It looks like that oil is burned into the engine head (red color).
I opened few engines and usually I see light honey color.
How many miles on the car?

Rust on plastic. I think i've heard it all.
Look at my previous post.

Your engine appears to be a darker color indicating long service intervals or lack of oil change and hotter temperatures than normal. This is just burnt synthetic oil. Besides....plastic doesn't rust
