My Ride: 525D, auto, xenon, navsat pro, brown leather, pd, hifi, heated seats, sun-screens
Am I the only one having slightly rusted drum brakes? the car is only 7 months old....
Is that normal??

My Ride: 2005 530i, Jet Black, Black Leather, Automatic, Cold Weather, Sirius Prep and Radio, Premium Package, Xenon Lights.
I was surprised by mine also, but apparently it happens, and is not brake-threatening.
I wish there was a way to remove it easily, though because I hate the way it looks.

Surely you mean disc brakes - drums haven't been fitted to BMWs for many years!
The discs always rust on the surface, especially in cold or damp conditions, and more so if left for a few days without use. Using the brakes will clear the surface ok.
This is generally the same for all cars.

Didn't anyone here take metal shop, or am I the only loser?
Take the car up to 60 mph or so and slam on the brakes.
Do this a few times and the calipers will wipe the rotors to clean perfection.
It is called oxidation and yes it is OK.
Exposed metal will oxidize.

The rust is not on the swept rotor surface. Its on the emergency brake drum, part of the rear rotor. I have it too and it looks awful.

if you mean theu have rust on the actual brake disks then its normal happens when the car get wet or in humid weather. the car is supose to clean it self.. when u use it and press the brakes it will remove the dirt and the rust layer...but if you do not use your car for a while or when u use it very little...this happens nothing to be worried bout...just use ur brakes a few times and it will be back to normal...
