That's awesome, I am wondering if these are the NEW reworked Dunlops.. any shot of getting some numbers off the tire, exact description, etc?

Can someone with the original Dunlops (not replaced recently) take a look at the speed rating? I think the original (factory) tires had a "Y" speed rating (186mph/300kph) but the replacements have a "W" speed rating (168mph/270kph).
Can anyone help prove or disprove this theory?

My car has 93Y in the front and 95W in the rear (not replaced yet). Dunno what the difference is? I figure they *should* be the same? heh. Maybe something else to point out and b!tch about when my appointment comes

The 93 is the load index (1443 pounds/650 kilograms) and the Y is the speed rating 186mph/300kph).
The 95W translates to a load index of 1521 pounds/690 kilograms and a speed rating of 168mph/270kph.
My new fronts have a 93W and my new rears have a 95W (both tires have a W speed rating.)
Here's a link to the Tire Rack's explanation of the load index and speed ratings:
I just checked mine and I have the same "Dunlop SP Sport 01 * DSST". Does that mean that my car has the new tires? My car was is a 12/04 build and I picked it up in Munich in Jan. of 05.
If I got the new ones that would be cool!

uwsc11, yes, those are the same tires mine were replaced with and they feel unbelievable to me after driving on the first RF Dunlops for 16,000 miles - my car was a 3/04 build. Hopefully, they last!

I think the old tires said the same thing. "Dunlop SP Sport 01 * DSST" is on both the old and the new tires. If there is an updated design, it may be identifiable through some of the codes printed down by the rim, I imagine...
UWSC11 Regardless of whether you had the new ones or not, to decide whether it was cool or not, surely it would depend on how you feel the ride to be ????? Do you find it uncomfortable ?

I don't find the ride uncomfortable at all right now. But I only have 1500 miles on them. We will say how they develop. I will take the car to a race track the end of the month. I'll let you know what I think of the tires then, and if I'll need new ones right afterwards.
