My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
Maybe part of the benefit of the run flats is they might provide better pothole protection as the sidewall is stiffer. I hit two potholes that I was sure bent the rim. No bent rim but there was rubber scuffs on the rim where the wheel took the impact.
I had three nails on the same tire. Luckely, i was near a repair shop so i decided to repaiar the tire instead of replacing it. Decision was made due to the fact that the pressure lost was insignificant and the tire was in allmost normal conditions. Unfortunately one of the nails was on the "corner" of the tire so it eventually broke down after a cuple of thousands miles.
I went for the runflat again and the difference was only 100$.
I intend to keep going on runflats and, as precaution, i bought a small compressor to use it in order to avoid unnecessary stress to the tire.
