I am gonna get a set of style 124s from my dealer when I order my 530i. They offer style 124s with run-flats and without tires. Should I get the set with run-flats or the set without tires?

If I get the set without tires, I am thinking of fitting standard 245/40 Michelin or Bridgestone tires.

Which one should I get and which brand of tires?

Aight, now that I got that out of my system, here's the scoop: if you have a spare in the trunk, non RFTs - NO QUESTION! You're gonna crack rims - not a question of "if", but "when" - with the RFTs. You will. So better find yourself a good wheel repair guy if you end up with RFTs. But if you REALLY wanna enjoy your car, forget RFTs, get a spare if you don't have one and get yourself a NICE SET OF POTENZA RE760s, RE960s or Michellin PS2s if you are keen on overspending on tires. That's it! Don't ask this question again, unless you've searched through the entire internet and didn't find anything

 

i dont think anyone here will reccomend RFTs.

i am excited because next month when i purchase my 20s and go with standard tires, i will be trading in stock 18s with RFTs AND SAVING over a POUND per wheel (not the monetary amount, for our brit friends)

i know a total of 4 lbs isnt a lot, but from what i understand a pound per wheel when rotating when you are doing 80MPH makes a big difference. i am excited about ditching my RFTs. i have not heard anything positive about them

 

Vlad is correct about searching. There are a million threads here about RFTs versus non-RFT. To sum it up, the overwhelming view of members here is that one should avoid RFTs at all costs (ride harshness and other problems) and get the non-RFTs and a spare.

20s are lighter than 18s? What brand are those?

I prefer everything stock

 

Forget RFTs ... or even conventional ... go with these

 

I also have the 124's under my 540. It was delivered with the standard runflats (Bridgestone Potenza)

I didn't liked them and have them replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 runflat and that was a good decision.

Michelin PS2 runflats are real good tyres !
