hi just had a puncture at 5000miles a small screw located in centre of rear wheel between tread pattern.1 mile from home the warning displayed a puncture.great!
wife driving alone at night.perfect solution she phoned home to me on the fitted blutooth for advice.....abandon journey return home pronto (less than 50mph) round trip of 2mile. air loss on return was 10lbpsi so not flat on rim .....
phone bmw for assist !advice as to procedure as i live at the most southerly trip of uk 25 miles from bmw dealer.abruptly and succinct brief reply forthcoming."you can drive up to 100miles to a (repairer)dealer who will fit a new tyre goodnight!
next day phoned dealer to repeat above told bring in for a new tyre ?185.00 or go to garage ask to fit new tyre.
result ... phoned all tyre dealers within 50 miles all said new tyre.and none would touch with a barge pole also 3day wait for replacement tyre backon phone to the dealer recommended repairer who said he would repair bring in ....phoned back hour later for appointment boss says...noway jose bmw sent their bodgeup here for us to sort out after they chewed the 18"alloy rim of a z4 as there machine wouldnt take the size by now puzzled so back on phone...10 miles away small tyre repairer with new fitting machine fitted patch after removing tyre from rim with ease. cost ?15.00. apparently new guidlines by manufacturers on run flats.if you dont run flat (no air at all) you can repair damage in tread area not the walls.as long as you are certain there has been no damage to the walls of the tyre...thats what i have been informed .comments would be of interest, maybe no repair at all is best policy.is a repair ever avisable? but on 5000 miles of wear and knowing the circumstances ! what would you do.
ride is a 2004 nov 535 sport ....love it...
postscript date stamped wheels ...inside rims as per the production date of car interesting only 3 days different to car

No question about it, I would repair with an inside patch as long as the puncture was in the tread area.
