Thanks a lot. Now it is clear for me. It seems that the sales engineer confused a 2005 model with a 2006 one. Or maybe they haven't yet replaced the rpm meter on BMWs manufactured in Egypt. I really don't know.

In US the MY starts, for some marketing reason, in March.

But the E60 is a German built car, and their MY's starts in September.

Your dealer was not confused, either he doesn't know his product he's selling or he was trying to bullshit you.
He was actually selling you a pre March 2005 built car with the old M54 engine!

To be on the safe side: if you want to buy a real E60 MY '06, see that your car has a start/stop buttom!

"Our 330i labored hard to lose. The electrical ticks began shortly after it was delivered. The new 3-series has a push-button start. Ours would work only after several exasperated pushes and fiddling with the key. Why, we wondered in the free moments this created, must you even insert the "key" into the dash when many push-button systems, including the IS350's, allow the radio-transmitting key fob to roam free?"

Man, I hope all those "real" 06 5-ers have better luck with their pushbutton contraptions.

Ya with that start/stop button comfort access is a MUST.
