I've noticed a couple of times when coming to a stop, the car seems to want to lunge forward and the stop is a bit rough. I usually like to come to a smooth stop. Does anyone else have this problem? It might just be that I have to get used to the pedal since I've only been driving it for less than a week.

Several 650 owners (new for MY06) are complaining of the same thing. None has found satisfactory answer yet from dealers.

I had an E55 a few years ago with the brake-by-wire system, and could never get a smooth stop--either it was too abrupt, or I's stop 5 feet after I wanted to.
Could be the soft stop brakes are trying to fix something that ain't broke!

My Ride: (Euro) 530d M Sport, Auto, Carbon Black, Black Dakota leather, M Spoiler, Heated seats, Pro Sat Nav, Pro Radio, CD changer, Bluetooth, Bi-Xenons w/ washer & adaptive. Does 43mpg!
I've had the joy of a derestricted M5 on twisty Irish back roads. I'm no expert but I did notice that when setting up the M-Drive (M for Madness!) in iDrive you could select 400, 500 or 500 Sport as engine power output. Now, when you're one of us and you get to play with an M5 for 24hrs which do you pick? Obviously 500 Sport!!! lol However, it became almost impossible to drive gently, or, as it says in the owner's manual "... setting causes the vehicle to react 'uncompromisingly' to accelerator input". So, does your motor have an SMG 'box and, if so, have you it set-up wrong?

no, i do not have SMG. auto/steptronic.
I think it might be the soft brake thing you mention. I didn't notice it today but I also had to brake a bit harder today as somehow, I just seemed to constantly get red lights as I approached them.
thanks for all the feedback

BTW, I had some small bugs on the bumper from a 30 min highway ride. I didn't clean it off and will probably do it tomorrow. last time i hosed it down, i had water spots. Any ideas or routines to get these off daily without having to wash and then dry the whole front end? are there any wipes like they use for babies? Is it okay to leave the little bugs on until the weekend?
