I have a 6/08 build 535. Black Sapphire.

While washing it today, I got around to washing the wheel wells for the first time, and noticed rough paint on the rolled edge in the wheel well of the rear quarter panels.

Not on the side skirts or the M-tech rear, only the rolled under part of the quarter panel.

Anyone else have this? I'm thinking it could be to help prevent road rash, but it seemed strange and I don't remember such a thing on the e39.

Thanks!

yes.....normal. All 3 of my E60's have had the rougher feel of paint along that inner edge of the wheel wells.

Thanks! At least I can sleep well tonight.

Figured it had to be from the factory as the car had 4 miles on it when it showed up in my driveway.

De-waxed today, washed, and re-waxed the whole car for winter.

Also removed the fugly Warning Labels on the visors. Was a little hesitant with the Anthracite headliner and "cloth" visor material, but all worked well.

Glad you'll sleep tonight. I am doing a similar wash, clay and wax as well this weekend. I want to get it prepped for winter. I never actually had my car detailed by the dealership when I bought it, since I bought it in a hurry at the end of the day. They owe me, but I will cash in on that in the Spring, when the car is really filthy with tar and other junk in the paint. They also owe me a tank of gas!

Good luck with the new whip!

You should've cashed in on the tank of gas when prices were higher...

Hmmmm, well from looking at the kids the dealers use around here, I have told them each time I'll take care of the finish myself...

Well, this shouldn't be an every day wash. I've told them I expect a power buffing, clay, the works....and they did a great job on the M5 when I picked it up, so I am hoping they do the same with this one. They aren't the most reliable dealership, though, and since they've already made their money on the car, I am a bit concerned...no comments Rudy.

No doubt! Should I hope prices go up?
No, just add the loss to the column that tracks the money spent on that M5 you unloaded...
