Folks
I arrived in Austria today after an 8 hour, 800 mile trip from the French cost via German autobahns. I cruised at 120mph where possible, with 2,700 rpm and an indicated 30mpg. Phenomenal! Took one and one half tanks of diesel. I could hardly hear the engine and the wind noise was not too bad. In one stretch, I managed to test out the high-speed handling characteristics whilst following a Porsche at around 135mph - when we encountered a sharper than expected bend!!!! Wife was totally unaware of my panic - car did what it does best & went around on rails.
Anyway, I'll take some pics of the car, mountains & snow & post on my return.
Bye for now....

Hi to all
The promised pic is attached below - hope you enjoy it. The trip was uneventful other than for:
(a) radar flashes in Belgium & Germany (would you believe on the Autobahn);
( a squashed cat on the way back (luckily the kids were asleep at the time).
During the trip, I saw *loads* of locals giving the car admiring glances. It really annoyed my wife! She already thinks I love the car more than her, and on that point I will plead the 5th!
Sorry to return as a massive snow dump is forecast for tomorrow.
