Your dash above the idrive is a bad place to put your rings when you wash your car - I lost one down the center vents just in front of it when I jammed on the brakes to dry them off. Is there any way to get in there? I don't want to spend 5 hours retrieving my ring but don't want to replace it either...

That sux! I'm assuming it's the center defrost vent on top? Have you tried to pull the screen out? Not sure if you can get to the duct to disconnect it or not. My guess is that it's fallen down in there pretty deep.
YOu may have to take the microfilter housing out and look to see if it's accessible by the condensor. This is an easy task. I've done the same thing at one point and had to use a flexible magnetic pole to retrieve it (luckily the ring was SS) !

My ring is SS too, except one of the non-magnetic alloys
To remove the microfilter housing, do I just remove the cabin filters and work from there? Self explanatory?
