For all of you that have a 525I with 166's on them did youhave to make any mods or anything when you put them on. What size tires are you running also.

Good question - something I'm interested in as well. I have an '07 530 and wanted to get the 166s on it. I don't have the sport suspension and I'm curious about the looks after installation. I've read several posts about the large gap between the wheel well and tire after the new wheels are installed. What I don't understand is why this would be possible if you're maintaining the same aspect (larger wheels, smaller tires) when compared to the original 17" wheels - maybe with this setup the orignal aspect is not maintained.
Hopefully someone will respond.

My Ride: No mods
i have a 525i w/ no sports suspension and i put OEM 166s on. um.. you will notice a large gap btwn the tire and the fender. for looks, i recommend you drop you car with H&R sport springs like the majority of the ppl here. it looks funny if you dont lower you car, in my opinion. I am running General Exclaim UHP 245/35/19F, 275/30/19R, similar to vegastrashed. They are decent tires. If you want great tires and have money, buy the Michelin Pilot Sport 2.

Thanks for the reply and your car looks great! From the pictures, it looks as though the gap pre-suspension drop will be very similar to what I have now with the stock 17" wheels. Can you confirm that based on what you saw when you first put the wheels on?
Also, was this wheel add-on simply "bolt 'em on and go" or was there anything else you needed to do with spacers, etc.?

Let me clarify. The gap has always there. It's how all the e60s come from the factory albeit the ones with Sport Package are factory lowered, yet there is still a gap. The gap isn't quite as noticeable with small wheels and large sidewalls. But, once the wheel size increases thus decreasing the sidewall of the tires to maintain the aspect ratio, it becomes very noticeable. That is why it's an optical illusion and bugs a lot of modders who will then lower the car with either springs or coilovers.
