Hi all,

Got this error message in I-drive. So i pull the light bulb and it looks fine (the filament in the bulb was in place). Was going to buy a replacement bulb from the auto parts store but they didnt have that specific bulb (w16w if i remember correctly) in stock, so im gonna take a visit to the dealer when i have time.

Im also thinking of swapping the bulbs (put the good one, the left one, and stick it in the right socket to see if it is indeed the actual bulb thats working) but just in case, what else can it be? fuse? (would a blown fuse cause just one reverse light to go out?) something more serious?
electrical failures on BMW's scare me.

any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like it should just be the bulb... that happened recently to my moms Mercedes. The front parking lamp said it malfunctioned but it was still working... when we took the bulb out it was dark and the filament was pretty thin. Popped in a new bulb and the message went away. The bulb was on its last legs and was prob not drawing enough power for the car to recognize the bulb.

most likely the bulb.

Bulb type is 921. Autozone, RS Strauss, Pep boys, etc should ALL have that bulb.

yeah. U should change it. This means it's gonna go anytime. The filament is broken off from the connection and when u tapped it, it went back into place.

Or u can always upgrade to LED: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=76993
