The car had its HPFP replaced once two years ago according to the service records. The car is being towed to the dealer today, hopefully I'll have a diagnosis soon.

I love this car and it was hard finding one optioned the way I like.

Well, the dealer has been working on the car for two days and has not yet come to a resolution.

The SA told me the car has nearly 20 codes stored on it from this single incident.

He said the tech has been trying to get to the root of the problem as he thinks something went awry that had an effect on the other systems, but he hasn't yet determined what that is.

He did say that the car will now start (it wouldn't at first), but has a hard, lumpy idle jumping from 500-2000RPMs.

As I see, the turbo engines have some problems so I guess I did right choice went with year early model but V8 engine, where they were almost at same price.

I can't imagine this is fuel-pump related (at least not directly, perhaps the fuel pump was affected, but could not cause this kind of thing). A lot of other systems were involved (electronic throttle, stability, etc etc.

There is a much larger issue, perhaps both electrical and mechanical, with the car.

in over 15 year of car enthusiast circles, don't think I've ever heard of a car so possessed. At least int's in the dealer hands now.

The dealer called and said the first problem they found is the throttle actuator. After that's replaced, they'll go from there.

CLOSURE:

Turns out there was a failure with "THROTTLE POTENTIOMETER 1" - it was shorting out and causing the failure.

Where is this potentiometer located? I'm guessing since the engine RPM is going up and down when the pedal is pressed that it's not the one on the pedal.

Was following closely. I've never heard of that but glad they got it figured. Thanks for reporting the solution.
